We decided to evacuate for Hurrican Issac. Even though it was a Category 1 Storm, we thought it was best for our family to leave, especially with Margaux and Jax. I bagged everything in our refrigerator/freezer and Danny closed the storm shutters in front of the house. We packed our trailer with two giant suitcases of pictures and headed to Birmingham.

The tree behind my parents house destroyed the shed, so glad it didn't fall on the house.

So glad we decided to evacuate. The storm ended up stalling and staying over the area for two days. There was massive flooding in Plaquimes Parish and in the LaPlace area. We were very fortunate not to have any water damage. The fence on both sides of our house were damaged.
In addition, a tree fell at the corner of Lake Villa/Meadwodale and blocked the entire street. When Entergy arrived to remove the tree and restore electricity, they discovered Honey Bees in the tree. Apparently Honey Bees are endangered species and we needed to wait for the Honey Bees to be properly removed before the tree could be cut. Last I heard, some of the neighbors took it upon themselves to cut the tree. We were without electricity for 6 days, it went out Tuesday, August 28 and finally came back on Sunday, September 2. Thank goodness we left!
