To celebrate Danny's birthday, we decided to take a trip to Gainesville, Florida to visit The Swamp. We left Friday morning after bringing the kids to school. We arrived in Gainesville about 5:00 pm and checked in at the Holiday Inn on campus. It was great, we were in walking distance to the restaurants, bars, and the stadium. Florida played Missouri and Won 14-7.
I love to visit college stadiums to see the tradition and excitement that makes the atmosphere electric. Before the football team enters the field, they begin with showing live alligators on the TV and Big Screen. The music is "jaws" like and the announcer says, " In the Swamp, only Gators get out Alive" and the crowd goes wild and the players run onto the field. Loved It!
We had great seats and were surrounded by nice fans. It was a noon kickoff and the sun was shining bright on all the fans. However, by the middle of the second quarter, we were in the SHADE!
After the game, we went and purchased some Gator Souvenirs to bring home. That night we went back to Gator City Bar & Grill to watch the Alabama/LSU Game. Typical College Bar, we almost saw a fight, witnessed a break-up, and hoped this super drunk guy wouldn't get sick in the middle of the bar. GOOD TIMES!
